What we collect, and why.in plain English.

What we collect

• What you type into our forms: your name, restaurant name, suburb, mobile number, email, and — after you buy — your registered business name and ABN, so we can register your domain in your name.
• What you say to our chat assistant. Conversations are processed by an AI model (Anthropic's Claude, via their API) to generate replies, and a human at Restaurant Web reads them so we can follow up properly.
• Basic usage data: which pages are visited and whether the chat or a form was used. We use Google Analytics 4 for this, and our own simple counters. We do not sell or share this data.
• Payment details are never seen by us. Card payments are handled entirely by Stripe. Bank transfers go straight to our business account.

Why we collect it

To build your website preview, reply to you, register your domain, deliver the work you've paid for, and send you the occasional message about your own website. Nothing else. We don't send newsletters, and we don't give your details to anyone for marketing.

Who else handles it

The services that run this website and our work: Cloudflare (hosting), Anthropic (the AI behind the chat), Resend (email delivery of your enquiry to us), Stripe (payments), Google (analytics, and Google Workspace for our email). Each has its own privacy policy and security practices; we chose them partly for that.

Cookies and storage

Google Analytics sets its usual cookies. The chat saves your conversation in your browser's session storage so it survives a page change; it's gone when you close the tab. There are no advertising cookies.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that don't go anywhere are deleted within 12 months. Client records are kept for as long as you're a client and for the period Australian tax and company law requires afterwards.

Your rights

Ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it — email hello@restaurantweb.com.au and we'll do it within a few business days. If you're not happy with how we handled it, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version and its date appear here. We won't quietly loosen it.
